The Parish Choir, named "Kor Madonna ta' Lourdes", was founded in 1980 through the insistence and hard work of Fr. Donat Spiteri Ofm. Cap. The choir's leadership was entrusted to the young Raymond Storace, a local resident and Sister Cherubina Abela from the local Franciscan Nuns Community. It was Christmas eve 1980 during the midnight Mass that the Parish Choir sang for the first time.
From that day on the choir participated in many principal celebrations that take place in our Parish Church...not just during solemn celebrations during the year but during other occasions too like the First Holy Communion, Holy Confirmation and every Sunday during the 9 am. Mass. The Choir is even invited to sing during the Parish Feasts of other parishes, in the Church and even outdoors accompanied by the feast band.
In 1981 Maestro Carmelo Zammit joined the Choir and worked hand in hand with the director Raymond Storace. This Maestro gave the Choir a considerable number of his compositions, most of which new or written exclusively for our Choir. Among these compositions, worth mentioning are: The solemn antiphony for the Parish Feast day and another for the three day in preparation for the Feast; Sacred Music for the Holy Week, which the Choir even sang on TV. The Choir participates, accompanied by the San Gwann Light Orchestra, at the annual Concert organised by the Local Council, at Christmas time.
In Christmas 2000, the Choir celebrates it's 20th anniversary from the day it was founded. For this occasion, on the 15th of December, a music-literary academy was held at the Parish Church.
