| AIPS,
gathering together 130 member countries is the only world-wide organization
of the international sports media. It is a non-profit organization, founded
in 1924.
It actively represents the interests of thousands of sports journalists all over the world. It has Specialist Commissions for all Olympic and non-Olympic sports, including experts specialized in the respective branches. It acts as a unifying factor for the international media, top sportsmen and sponsors through its presence at major sports events, organizing joint meetings, clubs and seminars for young journalists. The AIPS membership is a guarantee for the members that their accreditation to the international sports competitions will enjoy priority. The AIPS membership is a guarantee also for the organizers of sports events that journalists sending in their accreditation forms are professionals. Our request to include the AIPS membership card number on all accreditation forms to big international events is therefore fully motivated. We are ready to help the organizers of all such events by sending them the list of our members for checking the professional status of the respective journalists. The AIPS aims at allowing only professionals to use the press stands. In agreement with the international federations the AIPS is sending its delegates to help the organizers of big events with the preparation of press facilities. Its expertise helps the organizers in providing a smoothly running press organization. Our publications ("AIPS News" bulletin published four-five times a year and the colourful "International Sport" magazine - free for the AIPS Members, national Olympic committees and International federations) are valuable sources of information about international sports events, offering the possibility for sports journalists to openly express their opinions, ideas and comments. Our cooperation with the international sports federations is mirrored in the AIPS News column entitled 'Sports World News' which also includes news of interest for our members sent by the international sports federations. Annually the AIPS organizes the "Best Athlete of the Year" and the "Best Press Facilities of the Year" contests. Starting with 1995, we are celebrating the Sports Journalists Day on July 2nd each year, the foundation day of the AIPS. Festivities and ceremonies of awarding the best media representatives are organized this day. Last but not least AIPS is a Family of sports journalists where all of us have the duty to support our Association which works to obtain better facilities and working conditions for journalists. The AIPS Headquarters are located in Budapest, Hungary. Please find below the address of the Headquarters. |
