Many communities in rural areas are off the utility grid and will continue to be, even after ongoing grid extension programmes are implemented.
These communities require power for lighting, water pumping, health care, communication and agriculture. In the absence of grid-power, standalone diesel generators are the most-commonly-used power option, but these systems require a complex support network for fuel delivery, spare parts and maintenance services. If any of these is absent, electric power in the village is interrupted.
Solar Electricity offers an alternative option for village power needs that does not require the use of delivered fuel or spare parts and little or no maintenance. As power needs of the Village increase, the solar photovoltaic system can be expanded easily to meet the increased need.
SPL Staff will work with development authorities in evaluating the financial, logistical and economic considerations in the installation of solar village power systems.
